It describes the many ways you can handle United way gifts in RE.
Remember that the individual gave to United Way and was receipted by united way so you should only be thanking them with no tax language on your letter.
The checks you receive are from United way and should go on the united way record in question (not on the individual record)
I use the other gift method rather than soft crediting from the gift on the UW record becuase it allows you to give full credit for the gift they made to UW and does not get discounted by the fees UW takes out. We thank them from the other gift record and use the other gift when running recognition reports (for annual report, etc) but never count other gifts in financial reports.
