Does anyone have some interesting or original ideas for giveaways at a golf tournament? Our committee has expressed their boredom with the hats, windvests, golf shirts, and umbrellas. One year we did engraved pint glasses that seemed to go over well. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

At a former position we put the shirt, hat, tees, and water bottles in one of those insulated lunch containers (the kind that usually hold a 6 pack of your beverage of choice!!), they seemed to go over quite well.

One year we had a sponsor that help us purchase watches. Those went over well.
Other Ideas:
Golf Towels
Beersteins
Socks
I did see a vendor that did mini power tools
First Aid Kits (that would really be needed if I was playing golf)
Caddy Shack on DVD
Hope this gives you some new ideas

I love that idea!!!! Our Auxilians have their golf outing (they won't even call it a tournament) at the most exclusive club in the area and the field is limited to only 20 foursomes. The type of club that you can only get into by birth & with lots of family money. Our tournament is at a semi-public course, jammed with people & has a more raucous flavor to say the least. We often refer to it as the Caddy Shack Tourny!
Less than one cent. HA HA....I wish! We usually try to keep it to $10 - $15 per person and hope we get a sponsor. We also allow our 'premiere' sponsors to distribute their giveaways in our gift bag. Those have ranged from pens & pads of paper to clocks & walkman radios.
Also at a previous position, we had a sponsor supply some really nice leather bags to put all the goodies in. There were the usual shirts, caps, water bottle, golf towels, balls, tees, etc. Sunscreen was a well-received addition. I dunno, maybe a portable shaving kit? Don't guys like shaving gadgets? My guy has a razor/toothbrush collection going on at home like I've never seen.
Ohh, how about a washup kit? after a day of golf, who doesn't need a toothbrush, some floss, a little deodorant and a washcloth?
Then again, I'm imagining golf in southern california where it's going to be over 100 degrees this weekend.
This might sound complicated/like too much work or not anything at all what you had in mind. But you said that the golf course this event is at is rather elite.
Perhaps some of your golfers are members, perhaps for some of them this is their only opportunity to golf this course.
What about at the beginning of the event, taking a picture (with a digital camera) of each 4-some in front of some sign or something the clearly identifies the course? Then while they are golfing, you can print out the picture, frame it in a nice frame that has an etching of your organization's name, the event, date, whatever information you want. And then at the end of the event, you can present that to each golfer.
That way they will have something to display either in their home or office or anywhere to say that yes, in fact, they really did get to golf on that golf course.

We don't have golf tournaments, but I just wanted to say, that you have a wonderful idea!!
It is inexpensive, yet original, and a nice keepsake - not to mention a good bragging item!!
I will definitely keep this in mind, should we ever venture out onto the greens!

I was born with nothing, and I still have most of it.
I also forgot to mention that some of the keepsake places I have worked with in the past offer amazing discounts to non-profits, especially when you are ordering a large quantity. But even without that, picture frames are extremely affordable when the line item on your budget contains $0 or close to it.
I am a believer that it is the personal touches that get you to stand out and remembered. I actually have never done a golf outing.
In fact, I might go so far as to consider myself golf stupid...you hit a ball, look up to watch where it goes, blind yourself/lose the ball in the sun, pray it doesn't hit anyone who is somewhere they shouldn't be, trek down closer to the hole and hope you find your ball. They tell me there is skill involved in the game and I just reply with, 'you do your thing, I'll do mine and we'll all be happy'. And why is it necessary to learn a second language to play golf. Birdie, Bogie, Double-this, Triple-that, are those good or bad?...Anyway, that digressed quite a bit. Sorry about that. (That isn't meant to be a rant, I hope some of the humor comes across. So, please those of you avid golfers out there, keep the hate mail to a minimum.)
One year we had a company come in who video taped the player's swing and, with their computer program, have the swing critiqued by Greg Norman (I believe) with pointers and tips for improvement. By the time the Awards Banquet started the completed tapes were ready to be distributed. This was a hit!
The tape compared the player side by side with Greg Norman.

ME TOO!!!!!! Which is why I find it very funny that I am in charge of one. Thankfully, I have a really great committee of golfers & golf widows.
We do the pictures of our foursomes. We take them before play or on the first couple of holes then run off to a one hour to get them developed. For the teams that win 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, we put their pictures in photo plaques & then everyone else gets theirs in a cardboard frame.
