Session Description: Typically, check donations arrive to an organization in envelopes, get opened and sorted, and their corresponding data is manually entered from a paper or image copy into The Raiser's Edge®. Then checks are totaled, stamped for deposit, and driven to the bank. There has to be a better way! This is exactly what the staff members at the Legionnaires of Christ thought too. After three years of searching, they were able to find technology to put all of the manual steps together into an automated system. This session will examine how the Legionnaires of Christ has made organizational and operational changes while working through cultural challenges inside. This session will show you a better way to handle donations by imaging checks and all reply devices, reading the check amount and reply device's contents as part of achieving data excellence. Afterwards, the system can help

• review transactions using image workflow prior to posting to The Raiser's Edge
• convert checks for electronic Check 21 deposit submission to the bank
• electronically populate The Raiser's Edge with check and donation data
• create an image archive of the entire donation transaction

This presentation will include video from the Legionnaires of Christ's operations center, which processes from 700 to more than 3,000 donations daily for 6 separate Raiser's Edge databases.
