Session Level: Advanced Speaker:Steven M. Shelton
Session Description: Risk assessment involves understanding the many variables that can negatively impact the return a nonprofit may have for its endowed funds. In this session, the speaker will focus on Monte Carlo Simulation, a type of risk analysis that randomly generates values for uncertain portfolio variables over and over to simulate a model, providing a range and probability of goal outcomes. In that context, different kinds of risks including macro, micro, pervasive, systematic, unsystematic, portfolio, investment, and client will be noted. Additionally, we will explore how diversification can help mitigate risk, especially volatility.
