Does anyone know a good consultant for FE in the New York City area? We're new to FE and are having a difficult time getting operational with all the other work going on. Blackbaud consultants are great, but between their fee and travel costs they are prohibitive.
Thanks for any help
Blackbaud used to have "business partners" that consulted on FE and were scattered throughout the country. On the west coast, it was a firm called Armanino & McKenna - not sure if they are availalbe on the East Coast.
Try to find out who was involved in this for the East Coast and go to them directly. Blackbaud stopped the "third-party" program because of difficulty in controlling the quality of the deliverable, but if you can find a good one that will be your best bet.
One last thought - Also, be sure to interview the potential consultant and make sure that they understand both general accounting practices ( former CPA, accountant, etc) AND nonprofits. It's a tough combination to find, but if you can find one they will be infinetly more helpful than someone who understands RE (and nonprofits) but not GAAPs.
I get repeated calls from Capital Business Systems. I haven't worked with them but you can email me if you would like their number. I am on the east coast near Philly.
