time to post betwn RE & FE

Hello,

Our membership secretary regularly posts gifts in RE on member records and then, using ADMIN >Post to GL, posts them from RE to FE. She is finding that this process, whether she's posting 1 gift or 50 gifts, takes about 4 minutes to initially create a GL pre-post report and then another 4 minutes to actually post the gifts over to FE.

She doesn't think that it used to take nearly this long. It's not an issue with her computer because she's tried it on our fastest computer and it still takes the same amount of time. All our gifts have interfund entries, but this has always been the case.

Any suggestions as to what you could be slowing her down so substantially? Or on the other hand, do other users experience this slow posting process?

Thanks!

When we post using a query (all gifts in a certain batch) or by setting a date range, the process is very quick, even with a large amount of gifts. When we post without setting any parameters (either by using a query or setting a date range) the process takes a very long time. I'm assuming because it has to sort through all the gifts to find the unposted ones.

My thought is perhaps she had a date parameter or query set that has been removed. Because we have to "share" the post option, it can get overwritten as each user sets it to do what s/he needs it to do.

My gift entry person was confused one day because her query wasn't popping up (batch number = ask). But it wasn't doing that because I had removed the query earlier to post some pledges.

If that's not it, I would back up to see what changes have been made since it last posted quickly. Might be network traffic, if you've done an update to RE or FE it might be version related... that's all I've got...

That was exactly it. She wasn't putting in any parameters, and hadn't looked beyond the first tab.

Your advice has made me the hero around the office (with this and barcode scanning). Many Thanks!!!!

Glad to help!

Doesn't it feel good to be the hero??

I see you're in NC... I grew up in Asheville and I'm ready to come home. But that's another topic...

I'm new to NC, moved here from NYC in Aug. All in all it's been a good move. I'm especially loving the winter. Daffodils are already blooming!
