Our school is new to Education Edge and we are having a lot of trouble creating the type of transcripts we need. Is there a way to customize transcripts? Should I start learning Crystal Reports or use Excel? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
My suggestion is to first be sure you've explored and tried all the options of the BB transcript. Create different versions, print them, and compare and comment on each. Then, really be sure you can't live with the transcript produced because if you can't you're going to pay a lot of money or spend a lot of time in Crystal. A custom Crystal transcript is a large undertaking if you're just learning Crystal. You can also pay BB to create one for you but it is very expensive.
I produce five custom report cards for our school in crystal. It is a frustrating program, but it is a doable project if you have a good understanding of database design and software. It does give you an amazing amount of control.
The big cautionary tale I will give is to establish change control. This is the mistake I made.
