Here's the Scoop!
we have been running EE since the class of 99-00
RE since the DOS version
we'll be upgraing to 7.75 and 7.84 after school lets out and we run final transcrips,
but I had a "meeting of the minds" so to speak the other day to explain itegration better and how changes affct both databases with key EE and RE staff and walked away with them wanting to break all links.
we had a scenario this last week where a guidance counselor/registrar needed to pull up a student's transcript from '02
she has since gotten married.
she cannot find her, she didn't know she got married
the transcript now reads Mrs. Amy M. Smith instead of Miss Amy M. Jones
the EE staff are then also concerned that the addresses on the transcript should also be reflecting the address that the student was at when he/she graduated/ left the school. so would like to have the records be static at that point
Howeverdue to BBNC/OCC/RE/EE integration it's kind of an all or nothing deal
we plan to move all of our current students/parents/relationships over into RE in June (we integrated for the first time last summer) this allows for us to make full use of online events as well as other features that we have
when talking to BB my options are

1. not to sync any name fileds and /or possibly address fields- maintain the databases seperately, thus not making use of the benefits of integration
2. Every time there is a name change information bothe database staff so they can keep a list for when they need to do look ups as well as manually changing the transcript to read the appropriate title and last name (this goes for when someone changes their title or suffix in anyway from when they gradualted, not just getting married)
3. look into a customization @ a cost from BB

anyone else come across this yet? have any thoughts or ideas?

In regards to the transcripts you could create a transcript which uses a former address and an ad/sal which inlcudes the maiden name. It means you can't run them in bulk but it could work for those "one-offs".

Regarding name changes this is always going to be a problem. Any time a database has a name field populated it affects the ad/sals if you are pulling them from config. We've put a policy into place where whenever there is a new field populated that would affect an ad/sal, the person who adds the data emails the data entry person of the other database. Since the summer was so heavy with this type of work we did daily reports.
