We too are working on our Pre - Integration Plan. Maybe we should have a thread for Pre-Integration Lessons Learned - although I have nothing to contribute just yet.

One of my clients did this last summer(06) and it we had a few problems but not severe.
Several suggestions. If you are going to sync primary business in EE and RE, make sure that they are linked in RE (or what ever your source system is) and then import or add organizations from source system to system you are linking to.
Your relationships are key in this. If a relationship is missing a link to the student record or not linked correctly to a spouse record, you will either get no sync or a new one. Make sure you have relationship types entered for every linked record.
Also found some issues with parent (individual) records when they divorced (creates a new constituent record) but if they re-marry, change names you may find that the divorced parent name gets overwritten with the spouse name and the step parent gets married to the step parent. This had to do with the way we had set up the sync parameters with the step father taking precedence over the mother when adding constituents.
Also the sync reports are ridiculous, make no sense and look like you have just obliterated data when in fact that has not happened. This client does not put the sync on a regular nightly schedule. They sync when needed and the RE person just adds new records manually from integration.
Hi all. We would love to speak with another school who has integrated EE & RE.
At my previous job, we integrated EE and RE in the summer of 2006. The main thing to do is check the address relationship links with spouses and children. Most of our student addresses (individual records in RE) were not linked to the parent's address. This was not known to be a problem when we started but ended up taking months of time to fix! I'm sure BB has warned you about that. Once it was working and synchronizing it went well. Divorcing parents is a problem, but if you are making the father and the mother have individual records in RE to work with EE you should not have a problem, just don't overwrite the name that a record starts out with. If you have any other questions please feel free to respond.
