[Foundation]

I can't remember if I already posted this question on here, but since I can't find it, I'll assume that was a conversation in my head.... If not, please forgive me & tolerate my memory lapses...

We're creating a custom CR to show actions (among other things). If there's an attachment in our notes field of the action, it's printing as junk characters (see below).

Is there a way to suppress it if it's junk? (Blackbaud is telling me it can't be done).

I created a formula as follows:

if isnumeric ( {ActNote_1.ActNote_1_Actual_Notes}) then " " else
{ActNote_1.ActNote_1_Actual_Notes}

This is catching some of the junk, but not the rest.

If all the junk attachments start with the '{' character, you might try:

if left({actnote_1.ActNote_1_Actual_Notes},1) = "{" then "" else {actnote_1.ActNote_1_Actual_Notes}

Thanks - that sounds like it could do, but when I put it in the suppress condition, I received this error: "The formula result must be a boolean"

oh...if you are putting this in as a section suppression formula, just take out the if...then...else structure so its like:

left({actualnotes},1) = "{"

This is definitely a better resource than blackbaud crystal reports help. I stopped using them because they kept saying, "it can't be done". With Crystal, most everything is possible. Glad it helped.
