(Looks like the forums are fixed, so I am posting this as a new thread.)
I have just upgraded to Crystal XI. I am trying to create a very basic profile report and I am having a very difficult time.
Here's the situation:
1. I created a couple of group and placed formulas, subreports, and data in various sections on the report. I did not use the select expert to suppress any records as I want them all the records to appear on the report. Everything was going very well.
2. Then I tried to place a seemingly innocent boolean attribute in a group header section. As soon as a place it on the report, all of the records that have a null value for that attribute are completely suppressed from the report. The entire record just disappears display on the report. I am not really sure why this is.
3. Thinking it must have to do with the attribute having NULL values, I went to both File/options and File/Report Options and converted NULL values to default. That didn't help.
4. I tried using a formula to display the attribute instead. No matter how I write the formula (and I think I've tried everything),as soon as I try to use this field ALL of the records with a null value for this attribute are suppressed from the report. I also changed tried converting NULL values to default at the formula level.
I don't recall this happening when I was using 8.5. Maybe I am having a bad day but I cannot figure this out. I feel like I am going crazy. Please, please take pity and help me!
Gratefully,
b.
I would like to thank Rob and Brian for their answer. I too have struggled with the same issue. I don't remember Crystal doing this in previous versions, but now my reports are right. Yay!
I was hoping that someone could tell me how to go from left outer join to an inner join with the "return all Rows before Joining selected" No matter what I do, I can't get this box to pop up (ok I got it to do it once but now I can't anymore). And starting from scratch and selecting auto join doesn't seem to work.
I'm using CRXI.
Regarding:
When you are adding the tables in the wizard, chances are you have selected to 'Automatically' join the related tables.
You need to chance each of the join types from an "inner join" to a "Left Outer Join".
This can be done via The Database Expert, Links tab (Available as the first option under the 'Database' menu item).
Edit: If the radio buttons are greyed out, deselect the option to 'Return All Rows Before Joining'.
