Good Afternoon,

I am really new to Crystal Reports. I took a class over a year ago but have not had the chance to utilize it and find myself frustrated.

I am in the process of creating a solicitor report through crystal. The information our MGO want on it is name, address, phone, affiliation/contacts, natural partner, # of actions, last action date, proposal purpose, proposal status and proposal expected date. I have two questions to complete the report.

First, I need to be able to sort these alphabetically. I have tried numerous ways to pull it from Raiser's Edge and can not find a way to sort both org and individual records together. I need the records to sort similar to this:

ABC Corporation
Adams, John
American Reliable

I hope this is an easy fix in Crystal....

Second, many of our records have mutiple proposals in various stages. I want to have crystal print the proposal information in columns but it is separated due to having the name, address and phone in the first column. Not sure if I am making sense with this one.

I can help with the first part anyway. Are you exporting the Sort Key? If you use it for sorting in the Crystal report, you'll get the order you want.

A. Include the field called "sort key" in your export and use that as your a-z sort field for the constituent.

B. Sounds like you need a subreport - which I have not tackled in crystal yet but can do in access. Let's see if others can help you with the subreport.

It's possible to take multiple records and flatten them into one row, but it's a MAJOR pain. This is something that clients THINK they want, but when I tell them how much longer it will take to do this, they decide that they don't really want it. As long as the layout is logical and legible, it shouldn't matter exactly how it is presented.

Hi Stacey,

I'm not sure what you are saying when you say the proposal info is separated. I'm assuming that you want the report something like this:

Sort Name/ Personal info/ Proposal Info

This row would have duplicate info in the first 2 columns as shown here for each proposal. If you need to have it list like this across the row, you can suppress the info in the first two columns easily.

As Melissa stated, you can also do a subreport. This could show the personal info for each constituent and then below the constituent you can list the proposal info.
