Rep Power: 3 | statistical reports by membership category suck Here is today's complaint: the statistical report appears useful enough, but it isn't if you run it by membership category on any sort of historical basis.
You have the option of either choosing current membership only, or not.
If you choose the former, it obviously only sums by the current membership, which isn't good for historical purposes.
If you choose the latter, it will count a gift multiple times, for each of the membership categories that a person has for the time period you specify. I can't imagine how this would be useful to anyone.
I've taken to querying for the gifts that I'm looking for, then exporting them along with several membership transactions, and then using a nested IF statement in excel to pull the first membership category it finds that is before the gift date and isn't dropped.
Now, that isn't perfect (I'm trying to make it adjust for multiple gifts by the same person at different times), but took me like 10 minutes to figure out (next step: trying to figure out how to do it in Crystal, to make this more automatic). Why can't RE do this automatically?
I put this up as an idea if anyone else has tried this. I can't be the only one. |
