It depends on what type of information you trying to find. This info can be found in a constituent profile report for each constituent, select Giving Summary, I believe. You can also run the Fund, Campaign, and Appeal profiles as well. Select <<Record Type>> Summary on the Profile Contents tab. This will give the same breakdown by the specified record in the title of the report.
Look in Profiles, lists, and directories.

According to BB's kb, you are correct, there aren't any canned reports. Here's the "solution":
Solution Title: What report will give the Mean, Median, and Mode of Gifts?
There are currently not any reports in the program that give these statistical figures. However, use RE:Export to create a gift export of all gifts and then use Microsoft Excel to create the statistics.
A simple example would be to just export the Gift Amount in CSV format then open the file in Excel. Once in Excel just use the Formula wizard to apply Average, Mode, Median to the range of cells that contain the gift amounts.

I searched the KB, too, and found the aforementioned solutions. Sadly, I need to use a query and date range. I ended up making 9 exports and doing it in excel.
I can't believe there wasn't a better way to do this.
