Getting late givers into the Consecutive Giving report.
We're including a consecutive giving section in our Annual Report for the first time this year. We have some people that have made late gifts in a given year that we'd like to include in the report as if they have truly given consecutively.
I figured I could just put in some dummy placeholder gifts for $0 in the years they "skipped" and all would turn out fine but, that doesn't seem to be working. Does anyone know of a manual intervention for pulling late gifts into the consecutive giving report?
The consecutive giving report calculates based on data in the system; we had a couple of people pay late so just added them manually to the list after the fact.
If you REALLY need them to appear, and you have a little flexibility with your funds you could create a dummy fund called participation, give them a gift of .01 to that fund during the time frame that defines consecutive years. and then re-run the report.
If you do this, I would suggest documenting iin the fund record what the fund is for, why it was created and the remember to exclude it from all your reports on giving.

Thanks Elaine. I got this thing to work and it was really important that I get the system to generate these years as accurately as possible. We're site ID #2 and I've got nearly 30 years of giving history so this list (donor name with # of consecutive years they've given to the school) would've been a nightmare since a late gift in any one of those years is a potential problem.
It actually worked as I initially hoped it would, using a $0 dummy gift dated the year we want to manually give them credit for. Another thing I found was how to quickly identify the "skipped" year. The Constit gift summary set up to group by fiscal year let me quickly look for the year where a gift was missing. Then I could look at the year above to see if there was a late gift that needed to be adjusted for.
I did want a way to query them so I chose to use a dummy appeal and because I was able to put in $0 gifts I needed to uncheck the exclude $0 gifts from the gift types tab of the report in order to pull them in.
