Unhappy Researcher's Edge Integration w/ Raiser's Edge Oracle

We are using Researcher's Edge 2.2.18. We are using the Raiser's Edge 7.80.1122.43 (Oracle database engine). Is anyone else using this combination? Have you been able to integrate the two products so that you can auto-sync the data between the two systems?

As we speak I'm testing the new TRE 2.2.1.8 version against our current RE 7.80.1122.33. So far, I see no problem with the integration and we're moving ahead with the upgrade.

A few weeks ago our Researcher wanted us to upgrade to the latest Researcher's Edge (TRE) version but after I checked the compatibility list (BB347613) I noticed that it only supported RE 7.81 & 7.82 versions. I asked Blackbaud about this and this is what I got (color and style added for clarity and humour):

"I am responding to your question regarding the integration of the latest version of The Researcher's Edge and The Raiser's Edge. Basically, Blackbaud has only tested the integration on the two latest version of The Raiser's Edge, which is why the Knowledgebase solution that you referenced only includes the information for those versions. Because we do not fully test for earlier version, we cannot say with confidence that there will not be an issue. However, it will most likely integrate without issue."

On an un-related knowledgebase search I ran across BB20136 and it made me think of you.

Do you have that solution number right? It does not seem to exist as you wrote it.

Dan,

Is your Raiser's Edge database engine SQL Server or Oracle?

RE is on SQL Server 2000 Std and our TRE is on MSDE. We're strictly Microsoft in regards to Blackbaud software.

It sounds like BB is starting to move away from Oracle. In the future, your integration woes are bound to increase if you continue w/Oracle. That's too bad - I think Oracle is an excellent database, I really miss working with it.
