We've discussed in the past books about Crystal, and we basically determined that George Peck is one of the best and certainly a favorite of several of ours when it comes to authors of books about Crystal Reports.
I'd like some recommendations for books about Visual Basic, .net, ADO, other software development, etc... what have you found most useful in your Raiser's Edge software development efforts? What do you think of Blackbaud's VBA/API user guides? What do you think of Blackbauds VBA/API support?
discuss!!
thanks!
Matthew

I think that in terms of describing the API the help files do a good job. In terms of "help" they are pretty lousy. The few entries prior to the reference area give a good overview but that is all. I would love to see a collation of the help files, the VBA/API FAQ on Blackbaud's site adn some of the better knowledgebase articles.
As for general VB books, I liked the In a Nutshell VB6 book but it is much more of a reference book that a tutorial. It depends what you are looking for. I never really found the need for a tutorial as such.
That's the book that I use (its for .NET, not 6 tho). It does a pretty good job if you use it as a reference book, and does have some tutorials/example files with it.
I love the nutshell series of books. I used to have about 10 of them on my shelf in college. If you're looking for good reference books, those are the way to go...
