I would find a session that is an Introduction to Raiser's Edge Software Development useful. Something that's less of a deep dive than Shaun Sullivan offers...a discussion of what people have successfully developed on their own, what works well, what doesn't, what skills are useful...how to get started, demonstrations of building basic custom views with visual basic and making use of the VBA and API modules that blackbaud offers.

The API/VBA training provided by Blackbaud is done by a customizations consultant, not a trainer, so this would be great for those of us who just need a bit of hand-holding to get our first app going.
